In January 2024, the first Spiral Stack™ 03 pump was introduced into industrial use at the Florida Ave. wastewater treatment facility in New Orleans, LA. The purpose of the pump was to transfer concentrated polyacrylimide solution at 250 centipoise into a mixing chamber for dilution and flocculation of furnace ash lines. The unit was installed as a replacement for a DC progressive cavity pump, which had required continual maintenance of brushes, seals, and boots. The Spiral Stack's three-phase motor was driven by a waterproof variable frequency drive. Line pressure measured approximately 15 PSI, and the Spiral Stack™ fed solution at a range of 0.16 to 2 GPM during operation. A flow sensor downstream of the Spiral Stack™ regulated dispensing concentrations and prevented backflow when the pump was not in use. The Spiral Stack™ has remained in service as needed without incident.
